TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System, the set of sensors that turns on the low pressure warning in your dashboard. Empire Tire reads every sensor at your vehicle with a handheld tool, finds out which one is actually reporting, and fixes the real cause instead of clearing the light and sending you away. Sometimes it is genuinely low pressure. Sometimes it is a sensor whose sealed internal battery has reached the end of its life, which is a wear item, not a fault. Sometimes it is a sensor that was never relearned to the vehicle after somebody else fitted tires. Those are three different jobs, and telling them apart is the whole service: a light that gets reset without diagnosis comes back, and a light that is on permanently means the system has stopped warning you about the flat that matters.

What is included

Every sensor read, not just one. A handheld tool polls all four so we know which corner is actually talking.
Pressures checked cold. Because a hot tire reads high and hides the low one you are looking for.
Dead sensors identified. The battery inside a sensor is sealed and has a service life. When it ends the sensor is replaced, not repaired.
Relearn to the vehicle. A sensor the car has never been introduced to reports nothing, however new it is.
Replacement sensors fitted here. Done while the tire is off, in the same visit.

How it works

Tell us what the light is doing. Solid, flashing, or flashing then solid. They mean different things and it narrows the job before we arrive.
We come to the vehicle. No appointment at a shop, no leaving it somewhere for the morning.
Read, diagnose, fix. All four sensors polled, pressures checked, the real cause found and corrected.
Relearned and confirmed off. The system is relearned to the vehicle and the light is confirmed out before we leave.

Do you service TPMS sensors?

Yes, TPMS service is part of what we do for both residential and commercial customers. Sensors have batteries and seals that eventually fail, and a dead sensor means you lose the warning that a tire is going down.

What is TPMS?

TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System, the sensors that tell your dashboard when a tire is low. It is what turns on that horseshoe shaped warning light.

Can you reset my TPMS light?

Resetting a light without fixing the cause just hides the warning. We will find why it is on first, then clear it once the underlying issue is dealt with.

Do TPMS sensors need replacing when I get new tires?

Not always, but it is the sensible moment to check them, because the wheel is already off and the labour is already happening. A sensor that fails a month later costs a second visit.

How long do TPMS sensors last?

They have internal batteries that eventually run out, so they are a wear item rather than a permanent fitting. If yours are original and the vehicle has some age on it, expect them to need attention.

Why is my TPMS light on when the tires look fine?

A tire can be significantly underinflated and still look normal to the eye, which is exactly why the system exists. It can also be a failed sensor. Either way it is worth checking rather than ignoring.
